Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The ways that our production uses to develop the introduction as a real media product are that our camera shots are some of the conventions of a romantic comedy.
The two characters, first we filmed the girl from the bottom to the top seeing she excited, self-assured and also scared when she sees the boy that she likes and she has a date with.
We used middle-shot and close up to show the details of her emotions and feelings , also long shot and point of view to show at the other side how the boy was feeling in contrast to the girl so we can make the audience understand what is going in the movie. The song at the beginning of the movie is to introduce the audience in our romantic comedy and excite them. Later on, we used a piano sounds, different from each other while showing the boy and while showing the girl. Filming the girl, we used a faster piano sound to show that she is worried and rushing so she can look nice before the boy sees her. Filming the boy, we had a calm and slow piano sound to show the difference between them and that he is just waiting for his date.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
our production wanted to attract young people between 16-25 years old. The social grades of our target audiene are C1, C2, D and E.
Our title which was in bright colours was to make it look sweeter and introduce the audience to our romantic comedy. The song , Jessie-j ‘’domino’’, is a popular song ,as we researched mostly for young people because she is young , she is incredible, popular between the age that we want to attract, that is why we used it. Both of our characters are young and attractive to impress.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
20th century fox , we decided to try this institution because is really successful in the kind of movie that we made, this institution has a lot of good movies and we think that our production is perfect to be another successful movie that one of the best companies would introduce to the audience.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The perfect audience for our product would be young people between 16-25 years old. Their social grade would be C1,C2, D and E. We think that our production has what they looking for.
How did you attract/address your audience?
Master Movies researched in some successful romantic comedy of this and the last year. We decided to use young people with accent to make it even more romantic. We tried to show to the audience that the young lady was excited , she was feeling good , and also beautiful , so the perfect song to start a movie like this is with a happy , nice and famous song that young people would know and with the entrance of the girl ready for the action . We combined two piano sounds to show to the audience the excitement of the girl getting ready for her date and the boy waiting for her date, the point of view of him seeing her far away between trees is another excitement that audience would like. The girl who is not perfect, a bit clumsy and beautiful and the image of the perfect boy is a sensation that mostly girls would like, we trying to attract audience with jokes and funny parts and romance.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt that is not that easy to make a production that is necessary a lot of hard work and also use the right camera shots to transmit to the audience the feelings that you want them to have so they would like the production. Also and my favourite I have learnt how to use the Logic-pro to edit and make a good production. It's really excited to discover new things everyday that you can do with that program to make a exceptional work. I have enjoyed a lot using this program to edit our production , adding sound at the same time as the images , also edit the images , how to add the title and a lot more of exciting things that I can use for my next production.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at our preliminary task we have made an incredible change. We have learnt how to use the record camera much better, to make the shots clearer and to use the Logic-pro with more professionalism. Our problem in the preliminary task was that we didn’t really know how to transmit to the audience trough using camera-shots the emotion and feelings of the moment, we had to improve that using a different script, scenery and sound. We also have learnt with the research that we did at some of the most successful romantic comedy movies of this and last year was what the audience would like and how to transmit that. I think we successfully leant that and did it , even if I know that we have more to learn about.

After getting feedback...

After we got some feedback from the students, we realised that we have a problem. We had to film an INTRODUCTION of a movie, not a whole movie. Our story had an end and it didn't make the audience curious and want to watch more because it basically didn't offer more. So, we deided to record some more and give a little clue of what is going to happen after. We filmed the girl '1 week later', sitting in her office, waiting for her date to call and there is a surprise at the end. We were kind of happy to film again because we now know how to do it and we enjoy it.

FOCUS GROUP




These are pictures of our focus group. We presented our video to some of the students for a first time. They didn't like our first production and when they gave us some feedback, we tried to improve it. Their feedback this time was very positive, they very much liked it.

EDITING

I enjoyed editing more than filming. I found it interesting, we used some new programs to edit. When we finished editing i really liked what we have done, when we saw every piece put together - it looked beautiful. I think that the sound that we used has a big effect on the whole production, it tells a lot about the genre to our audience.

FILMING

Filming

It was so hard and annoying! It took us about a week to film a 2 minutes video. Every time we tried to film there were some problems. At first one of our actors didn't turn up and the weather was perfect on that day. On the next day, we were all there but the weather was really cold and windy so we coulnd't film again. We went to this park every single day and something always happened. When we finally filmed something, the battery of our camera recorder died so we had to go back to school. After that, we saw that the memory card is broken. We had to do some scenes over and over again untill we get what we wanted.
On the last day, when we were filming our last shots I was feeling great. The weather was nice, everything was working perfectly and I was really happy of what we have done.
